Plan Your Technology

Privacy & Trust

Trust is part of the work.

Technology work often involves access to information that belongs to someone else. Candidates, clients and colleagues deserve thoughtful decisions about what is collected, who can use it and how it is handled.

Privacy & Trust / In practice

Use information for a clear purpose.

Privacy is reflected in ordinary choices: what goes into a support record, where a document is stored and who receives an attachment. Clear purpose, appropriate access and careful communication help people make better decisions with information.

Everyday choices

What this means for the work.

01

Collect with intention

Ask for information that is relevant to the task or recruiting step. Avoid adding sensitive details to an email or ticket when they are not needed.

02

Respect access boundaries

Use authorized systems and permissions. Having technical access is not a reason to browse unrelated records or move information into another tool.

03

Raise questions early

If a request or a new technology changes how information is used, pause to clarify the purpose, permissions and person responsible for the decision.

A closer look

Before you apply, know where your information goes.

What to expect

Share your experience. Keep sensitive details private.

An initial careers question should not include passwords, government identifiers, banking details or confidential information from a current employer. Use the application instructions and ask for clarification if a request seems unclear.
