Plan Your Technology

Inclusion & Diversity

Your perspective belongs in the conversation.

Every technology decision affects people with different backgrounds, needs and ways of thinking. A team that listens to those differences can ask better questions, notice barriers earlier and build more useful solutions.

Inclusion & Diversity / In practice

Belonging takes shape in everyday work.

Inclusion is reflected in whose ideas are heard, how disagreements are handled and whether people can ask for help. Benchmark’s stated approach is to make room for different experiences while holding everyone to clear, respectful standards of work.

Everyday choices

What this means for the work.

01

Make space to contribute

Invite context from the people closest to an issue. A service-desk colleague, project professional or client contact may see something a technical plan has missed.

02

Recognize the work

Give credit for ideas, preparation and follow-through. Talk about the contribution itself, and help others understand how it supported the result.

03

Keep opportunity connected to ability

Consider relevant skills, experience and the requirements of the role. Different career paths can bring valuable judgment to technology work.

A closer look

A better handoff begins with a better question.

Before closing a deployment, ask the people who will use it what their working day requires. A shared workstation, an assistive tool or a different schedule can change what a successful handoff looks like. Listening changes the plan while there is still time to improve it.

What to expect

Respect should be visible from the first conversation.

Candidates should be able to understand a role, discuss relevant experience and ask about the work. If an application or interview creates an accessibility barrier, the accommodation contact below provides a starting point.
